Postman Ferdinand Cheval lived in France in the late 1800s. One day as he was walking, he stumbled on a stone and fell – this caused him to remember a childhood dream where he built a castle. For the next 33 years, Cheval collected stones on his postal route and then assembled them into what he called Castle Ideal, which still stands today in a town called Hauterives.
